HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer

Only printing in grayscale. Checked dialogs multiple ways. Ran diagnostic with HP Doctor and on the printer itself. Nothing has helped.

Does it copy in color? If yes, then what you can try if using a Windows based computer is the following: On your computer, go to control panel>devices and printers (on Windows 11 right click devices and printers and select "open" from the drop down menu). Next right click on the icon for your printer and select "printer properties" from the drop down menu. Click on the advanced tab and confirm that you have an HP driver installed and not a Microsoft IPP or Class driver. If you do not have an HP driver, delete the printer and download the driver from support.hp.com and reinstall. If you do have an HP driver, click on the device settings tab, scroll through the options until you see "device type" and change it to color.

 

If the machine will not copy in color then you probably have a hardware problem with the printer or printhead.
