Hi @Auggiedoggiekkk,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer is displaying a "Printer or Ink System Failure" error, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and clear any temporary issues.
Check Ink Cartridges
- Remove the ink cartridges and check for any damage or debris. Clean the contacts on the ink cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth. Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they are properly seated.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Check for Paper Jams
- Open the printer to check for any paper jams, especially around the printhead area or paper tray. Clear any obstructions.
Update Printer Firmware
- Make sure the printer’s firmware is up to date. You can do this by visiting HP’s official website and following instructions to update the firmware using HP Smart or HP Support Assistant.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP support website. This tool can diagnose and fix many common printer issues automatically.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
