HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer

My printer has been flashing orange and displaying the error message for two days now. I have cleaned the cartridge area, and cartridges and even switched them out. I've unplugged it and repowered it plenty of times. Nothing is working. This is very frustrating, especially with it being back-to-school time. I'm unable to print my materials for my students.

I understand how frustrating that can be, especially with the back-to-school rush. The orange error light usually indicates a hardware or cartridge issue. 

Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:


Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams inside the printer. Sometimes a small piece of paper can cause issues.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Make sure the ink cartridges have enough ink. Even if you’ve replaced them, double-check that they are properly installed.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.

Inspect the Printhead:

  • If your printer has a removable printhead, take it out and check for any debris or ink buildup. Clean it gently if necessary.

Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes a firmware update can resolve hardware issues. Check the HP website for any available updates for your printer model.

Check for Error Codes:

  • If there is a specific error code on the screen, look it up in the printer’s manual or on the HP support website for more targeted troubleshooting.

Perform a Reset:

  • Try performing a factory reset on the printer. This is usually done through the settings menu on the printer’s control panel. Be aware that this will reset all settings to default.
