Hi @marpat55,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Photosmart 7520 printer is attempting to connect to the HP server upon startup. This behavior could be due to various reasons such as a firmware issue or a network configuration problem.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  • Check Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network. You can do this by printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel. Make sure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and has a stable connection.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Photosmart 7520 printer. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website. Updating the firmware may resolve any issues causing the printer to attempt to connect to the HP server unnecessarily.
  • Reset Printer: Try performing a factory reset on your printer. This can often resolve various issues with the printer's settings. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Disable Web Services: If you do not use any web-based features of your printer such as HP ePrint, you can try disabling web services. This might stop the printer from attempting to connect to the HP server upon startup. You can usually disable web services from the printer's control panel or through the printer's embedded web server (EWS) accessed via a web browser.
  • Check Printer Settings: Review the printer settings, particularly any settings related to network connectivity or automatic updates. Make sure there are no settings enabled that might cause the printer to attempt to connect to external servers unnecessarily.

I hope this helps.
