Hi @Phantomjet41,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP Envy 6230 prints more copies than requested, it can be quite frustrating. Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Print Settings

Verify Settings on iPad:

  • When sending a print job from your iPad, make sure you are correctly selecting the number of copies. Double-check this setting in the print dialog box before you confirm the print job.

Update Printer Settings:

  • Access the printer’s settings either through the HP Smart app on your iPad or the printer’s control panel if it has one. Ensure that the default settings for copy quantity are correct and have not been altered.

2. Check Printer Firmware and Software

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause erratic behavior.
  • Check for firmware updates using the HP Support website or through the HP Smart app.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your iPad. An outdated app could cause issues with print jobs.

3. Restart Devices

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Restart iPad:

  • Sometimes, simply restarting your iPad can resolve issues with print jobs.

4. Reinstall Printer on iPad

  1. Remove and Re-add Printer:
    • Go to “Settings” > “Printers & Scanners” on your iPad and remove the HP Envy 6230 from the list of printers.
    • Re-add the printer by selecting “Add Printer” and following the on-screen instructions to reconnect.

5. Check for Print Job Queue Issues

  • Sometimes, jobs stuck in the print queue can cause issues. Clear any pending jobs on your iPad or any other device connected to the printer.
  • If you are using a Windows PC or Mac, restart the print spooler service to clear out any stuck print jobs.

6. Perform a Factory Reset:

  • If the issue persists, consider performing a factory reset on your printer. This will revert all settings to their defaults, which can sometimes resolve persistent issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
