@Circuitrider1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Fixing Carriage Jam and Door Open Errors!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your printer is incorrectly detecting a carriage jam or an open door even though physically everything appears to be fine. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshooting these issues:

Fixing a Carriage Jam

Reset the Printer:

  • Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the cord from the wall outlet and wait for at least 15 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
  • Press the Power button to turn the printer back on.
  • Print a test page to see if the issue is resolved.

Check for Paper Jam:

  • Remove any jammed paper from the input and output trays.
  • Open the cartridge access door and remove any jammed paper from inside the printer.
  • If necessary, remove paper from underneath the printer by opening the cleanout door.

Make Sure the Carriage Moves Freely:

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Wait until the carriage moves to the center.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Carefully move the carriage from one side to the other to ensure there are no obstructions.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
  • Print a test page.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
