@April491, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your new HP printer says there's an error during setup but indicates it is ready to print, try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Ensure Proper Connection:

  • Make sure the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it’s a wireless printer, confirm that it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions that could be causing the error.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the current printer software and drivers, then reinstall the latest version from the HP website.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can find firmware updates on the HP support page specific to your printer model.

Check Print Queue:

  • Clear any stuck print jobs from the print queue. Go to your computer’s control panel, open Devices and Printers, select your printer, and clear the print queue.

Network Printer Setup:

  • If the printer is on a network, try using an ethernet cable to connect it directly to the router temporarily and see if the issue persists.

Printer Error Codes:

  • Note any specific error codes displayed on the printer and refer to the HP support page for troubleshooting specific errors.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
