There is a problem with the printer or ink system. I have unplugged the printer, taken out all of the cartridges, replaced them, turned the printer back on and keep getting the same error. I have tried this numerous times.

Hi @Cl5090,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" can sometimes be tricky to resolve, but here are some additional steps you can try.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error clears.
Check Ink Cartridges and Contacts:
- Remove the ink cartridges again and ensure there are no protective tape strips left on them.
- Check for any dirt, debris, or ink buildup on the contacts inside the printer and on the cartridges. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean them gently.
Clean the Printhead:
- Sometimes the printhead gets clogged, causing errors. You can clean the printhead manually if it's accessible. Carefully remove the printhead (if applicable) and clean it with a damp cloth.
- Alternatively, you can use the printer's built-in cleaning function (found in the printer's maintenance menu) if your model supports it.
Check for Firmware or Software Issues:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check this through the HP Smart app or the printer's web interface.
- Also, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
