Hi @Roger249 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy Photo 7155 printer is stuck on the initialization screen and not progressing beyond the first dot, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.
- Wait for about 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cable.
- Turn on the printer and check if it progresses past the initialization screen.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website.
- If updates are available, download and install them.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.
- Wait for about a minute.
- Reconnect the power cable.
- Turn on the printer and check if the issue is resolved.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Ensure that there are no paper jams in the printer. Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions.
Printer Reset:
- Some printers have a reset option. Check your printer's manual to see if there's a specific process to perform a reset.
Safe Mode Boot (if available):
- Some printers have a safe mode or diagnostic mode. Check your printer's manual to see if there's a way to start the printer in safe mode or perform diagnostics.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-

Hi Gaya1239
Thanks very much for your response. Unfortunately, I had already received and tried all your suggestions via the HP virtual assistance. And nothing worked. I'm still frozen on the initialization screen. I also checked for firmware updates, as you suggested and none were available for my Mac OS Ventura 13.6.3. This freeze is clearly due to one of HP's auto updates. It seems reckless of HP to release updates without taking into account compatibility with the latest OS's out there.
