Hi @GSL1942

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e is stuck in Quiet Mode, which can slow down printing.

Let’s work through some steps to resolve this:

1. Turn Off Quiet Mode

  • Open the HP Smart App on your Mac.
  • Select your printer, then go to Advanced Settings.
  • Under Preferences, locate Quiet Mode and turn it off. Click Apply to save changes.

2. Check Printer Settings on the Device

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Quiet Mode.
  • Ensure Quiet Mode is turned off directly on the printer.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can clear temporary glitches.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for firmware updates for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve issues related to settings not being applied properly.

5. Adjust Print Quality

  • Lowering the print quality can improve speed:
    • Open the print dialog on your Mac.
    • Select Print Settings and choose a lower quality option like Draft or Normal.

6. Reinstall the Printer

  • Remove the printer from your Mac:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer and click the - button to remove it.
  • Re-add the printer using the + button and ensure the latest drivers are installed.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
