HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer

My printer shows it’s online but every time I try to print a document it says “printer failed”. HELP

I understand your HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-In-One Printer shows as online but fails to print with a “printer failed” message, try the following steps to resolve the issue:

 

1. Check Printer Status

  • Make sure there are no error messages or warnings on the printer’s display screen.

2. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Computer: Restart your computer to clear any potential software issues.

3. Check Printer Connections

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your network if using wireless, or to the computer if using a wired connection.

4. Update Printer Drivers 

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model. Install the updated drivers and try printing again.

5. Clear Print Queue

  • Windows:
    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Go to Devices and Printers.
    3. Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
    4. In the print queue window, select Printer and then Cancel All Documents.
  • Mac:
    1. Open System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your printer from the list on the left.
    3. Click Open Print Queue and cancel any stuck jobs.

6. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor  HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can automatically diagnose and fix common printing issues.

7. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Go to the HP support site or use the HP Smart app to check for any available firmware updates for your printer.

8. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

  • Refer to your printer's manual or settings menu to perform a factory reset. This can help resolve persistent issues.
