Hi @vagabondvet,
Find the next set of steps below.
Check Printer Firmware:
- Ensure the printer firmware is up-to-date. Go to the HP Support website, enter your printer model, and check for any firmware updates.
Reset the Printer:
- If the problem persists, you might need to reset the printer to its factory settings. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
specific Indicators:
- Info Light (lit): This typically means the printer needs attention.
- Wi-Fi Light (lit): Indicates that the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- Color Button (lit and pulsing): Usually means a print job is in progress or waiting.
- Black & White Button (lit and pulsing): Similar to the color button, indicates a print job status.
- Page Counter "0": Indicates no pages are currently being printed.
If HP Smart indicates no problems, but the issue persists, it may be a software glitch or communication issue between the printer and the computer.
If the basic troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, you might need to delve into more advanced diagnostics:
Check Event Viewer for Errors:
- Press Windows + R, type eventvwr.msc, and press Enter.
- Look for any errors or warnings related to the print spooler or printer.
Update Windows:
- Ensure your Windows 11 is up-to-date. Sometimes updates can resolve underlying issues.
Network Reset:
- If the printer is on a network, reset your network router to ensure there are no connectivity issues.
If the problem still persists after all these steps, consider contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance, as it might be a more complex hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @vagabondvet,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
When the print queue is frozen and indicates a problem with the printer on your HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-In-One Printer, and the printer control panel shows various lit and pulsing lights, it can be a bit challenging to pinpoint the exact issue. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
Steps to Resolve Print Queue and Printer Attention Issues:
Clear the Print Queue:
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP ENVY Pro 6455 from the list.
- Click on Open queue.
- Right-click on each print job in the queue and select Cancel.
- If the jobs do not cancel, you might need to restart the Print Spooler service.
Restart the Print Spooler Service:
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- In the Services window, scroll down to find Print Spooler.
- Right-click on Print Spooler and select Restart.
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Check Printer Status and Connections:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- Check that there are no paper jams or other physical issues with the printer.
- Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any printer issues.
Reinstall the Printer Driver:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your printer and click on Remove device.
- Download the latest driver for your printer from the HP Support website.
- Install the driver and add the printer again.
Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Thank you, Elohi. The printer eventually started working on its own, but I ran the diagnistics anyway to see if it found any problems, and it didn't, it says all is good. I guess I'll have to wait 'til the next time it does this and try to figure out what's causing it to stall out and display the lit control panel buttons by running the diagnostics again. My operating system is up to date, all drivers are up to date, the printer firmware is current, and the printer is working fine now, so I don't have a clue why it does this from time to time. Thanks for your suggestions, I will review them again in the event I have further problems. Have a great day!
