Hi @Edward125,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY 5540 printer is attempting to print with an A6 paper setting while you have loaded A4 paper. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check Paper Settings in Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, ensure that the paper size and type settings match the A4 paper loaded in the input tray.
  • Open the printer's menu, navigate to Setup, then Paper Setup, and ensure that A4 is selected as the paper size.

Re-adjust the Paper in Tray:

  • Open the paper input tray and ensure the paper guides are snug against the edges of the paper stack without bending the paper.
  • Reload the paper stack properly and push the paper guides firmly against the edges of the paper.

Correct Paper Settings in Print Dialog:

  • On your computer, ensure that the print settings are set to A4. You can do this by selecting File, then Print, and checking the properties or preferences section of your printer driver.

Load Correct Paper Size:

  • Ensure that A4 paper is correctly loaded if you intend to print on A4 size. If the settings reflect A6, make sure to change them to use A4 paper.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Update the Printer Drivers:

  • Verify that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit https://support.hp.com/us-en  to download and install any available updates for your printer model.

Perform Alignment (if required):

  • Go to the printer control panel, touch Setup, then Tools, and select Align Printer to ensure the printer detects the correct paper size and prints correctly.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
