Printer stuck in sleep mode and not showing as available to print

When I try to print to my printer from my phone, it often says that the printer is not available. So I go over to the printer, the lights showing wifi connection and power are both lit but the printer is stuck...meaning I press the power button on the printer, try pressing the menu pad, press everywtere on the printer and nothing comes up. The only way to get it to come back on is to unplug it and plug it back in. I print very rarely, but when I do it's usually a recipe or something I'm currently working on. It's very frustrating that it won't come out of sleep mode when I need it to print. Any ideas on why it gets stuck and/or why I am having to unplug it to get it working? I use the hp instant ink and I often get messages the printer is offline even though I sew the printer is powered on and the wifi indicator says it's connected.

Assigning a static IP address to the printer will resolve this issue:

• Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
• Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
• If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
• Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
• Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
• Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
• Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
