Hi @Magee3 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e being stuck on "Validating." Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check for Updates

  • HP Smart app: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer. Open the app, and if an update is available, install it.
  • Printer Firmware: Go to the HP website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model.

2. Reboot the Printer and Computer

  • Power Cycle the Printer: Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for 10-15 seconds, and plug it back in.
  • Reboot your Computer: Restart your computer to ensure there are no software conflicts.

3. Reset the Printer's Network Settings

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Network > Restore Network Defaults.
  • Reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi following the on-screen instructions.

4. Clear the Print Queue

  • Open the Printers & Scanners settings on your Windows 11 computer.
  • Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e and select See what's printing.
  • Clear any stuck print jobs in the queue.

5. Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Uninstall HP Software: Go to Settings > Apps and uninstall the HP software.
  • Reinstall Drivers: Visit the HP Support website, search for your printer model, and download the latest drivers. Install them and follow the on-screen setup instructions.

6. Check the Printer’s Display Panel

  • Ensure there are no error messages or warning lights on the printer’s display panel that could be causing the issue.

7. Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily

Sometimes security software can block the communication between the printer and your computer. Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall and try printing again.

8. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds to reset the printer to its default settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
