Printer suddenly stopped printing and copying

HP Recommended
Inkjet 8720
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer cannot print or make copies.  there is no error message, when printing, nothing happens.  When making a copy, the scree is stuck on "Copying Page 1".

Cannot print test page from diagnostic software, but can print internal test page or diagnostic page.

I unplugged, rset to factory defaults, reinstalled drivers, etc.  We use both OS and Windows operating systems, neither works.  Does not make sense.  Printer says "printing", makes a couple sounds like its going to print, then sits there spinning.

Please help, very frustrating

Welcome to the HP support community.

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  2. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  3. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  4. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  5. Try to print.

Let me know how it goes.
