HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 that was working fine. Ink cartridges run out and I bought new cartridges from HP. Now I get the message "There is a problem with the supply system". I tried all the suggested ways to fix it, but nothings worked. Since nothing else has changed (except new HP cartridges) between a working printer and non-working, it means it is not the printer but the new original HP cartridges. How do I get my money back for the just bought cartridges?

@Cristi45, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing the "There is a problem with the supply system" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 after replacing the ink cartridges with new HP cartridges, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the new cartridges are compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. The correct cartridge models for this printer are HP 952 (standard) and HP 952XL (high yield). Confirm the cartridges you have installed are indeed those models.

Reinstall Cartridges: Sometimes, cartridges might not be properly seated. Remove all the cartridges and then carefully reinstall them. Make sure they click into place and are securely seated.

  • Remove all cartridges from the printer.
  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Reinstall the cartridges one by one, ensuring each is properly seated.

Remove Protective Tape: Ensure that all protective tapes and covers have been removed from the new cartridges. Sometimes, if these are left on, they can cause issues in the printer.

Clean the Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and in the printer with a lint-free cloth. Sometimes, dust or ink residue can create connectivity issues.

  • Turn the printer off.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the cartridges.

Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Check for any firmware updates on the HP website and install them if available.

Reset the Printer: Performing a reset can sometimes resolve the issue.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Ink Levels: Sometimes damaged or malfunctioning cartridges can cause this issue. Ensure the new cartridges have sufficient ink and check for any visible damages.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
