My HP Envy Photo 7855 printer does not start up. During booting it gets stuck on the first dot of the start screen.
I have unplugged the power cord, held the power button down for more than 15 seconds then plugged back in directly into wall outlet, but does not help.
Please assist and advise how to resolve this issue. i see this issue on the forum and usually a hard reset is advised. Please send me these instructions.

Hi @CLIFFC2,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer is having booting issues. A hard reset can often resolve such issues. Here are the steps for performing a hard reset on your printer:
1. Hard Reset Instructions for HP ENVY Photo 7855 Printer
- Turn Off the Printer: Make sure the printer is turned off. If it is stuck on the first dot of the start screen, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the Power Cord: Disconnect the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet. Leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
- Check for Other Devices: If there are any other devices connected to the printer, such as a USB cable or memory card, disconnect them.
- Reconnect the Power Cord: Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet first and then into the printer. Ensure the printer is directly connected to a wall outlet and not to a power strip or surge protector, which can sometimes cause power issues.
- Turn On the Printer: Press the power button to turn on the printer. If the printer does not turn on automatically after plugging it back in, press the power button to turn it on.
- Wait for Initialization: Allow the printer to go through its initial startup process. This can take a few minutes. If the printer still gets stuck on the startup screen, proceed to the next steps.
2. If Hard Reset Doesn't Work
If the hard reset does not resolve the issue, you can try these additional steps:
- Firmware Update: Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve booting issues. If you have access to a computer, you can download the latest firmware update for your printer from the HP support website and follow the instructions to update it. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check for Hardware Issues: Ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Open the printer and check all accessible areas for any stuck paper or foreign objects.

I hope this helps.
