Printer says it's "out of paper", yet able to copy. Yes, I've rebooted several times.
Note: I'm not expecting much from this system. Would be nice to talk to a tech expert.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer won’t communicate with your Mac, especially when it says it's "out of paper" but still copies just fine. Let's work through this together and get your HP ENVY 7645 back up and running.
Check Paper Feed Mechanism
Even if copying works, the print path might be slightly different. Follow these steps:
- Remove all paper from the tray.
- Fan the stack to prevent sticking.
- Reload paper and ensure the guides are snug but not tight.
- Clean the paper feed rollers using this HP guide.
Reset the Printer
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
macOS Sequoia is a newer OS, and compatibility issues may arise:
- Remove the printer from System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Download and install the latest drivers or use AirPrint:
- Visit the HP ENVY 7645 support page.
- Or try setting it up using HP Smart from the Mac App Store.
Check for macOS Compatibility Issues
Some macOS updates may affect printer communication. If you're using USB, try switching to Wi-Fi or vice versa. Also:
- Run HP Easy Start or HP Smart to auto-detect and fix issues.
- Use HP Utility (found in Applications > HP folder) to check printer status and run diagnostics.
Try Printing from Another App
Sometimes the issue is app-specific. Try printing from:
- Preview
- TextEdit
