I am beyond frustrated at this point!!! My printer will NOT print anything, not even the information pages, and I purchased my OWN ink cartridges (which are full) -- the envelope icon with the ink drop is flashing and everything I am finding online says that means I need to upgrade or update my instant ink subscription, which i DO NOT HAVE. I paid for my printer and my ink, I do not understand why I can't just print when I want to. This is beyond annoying and I have been dealing with this issue for weeks now, not sure what to do. I don't even have an Instant Ink account! Why can't I print???

Always use HP genuine ink cartridges.

 

Update the printer firmware-

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
