Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have OfficeJet 3830. I cannot get it to print. I run the diagnostics and it says no errors found. When I try to print, it says the printer is in error status. I have cleared the documents in the print que. I stopped the printer spool from running. I unplugged it and restarted. I restarted the internet modem. I just don't know what to do next.

Hi @Mel3830

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If your HP OfficeJet 3830 is showing an error status despite running diagnostics and you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, here are some additional actions you can take:

1. Check Printer Status and Connections

  • Check Power and Connections: Ensure the printer is powered on and all cables (USB or network) are securely connected.
  • Wi-Fi Connection: If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the correct network. You can print a network configuration page from the printer's settings to confirm.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Factory Reset: To perform a factory reset, go to the printer's control panel and navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults (if available). This can sometimes resolve persistent issues.

3. Update Printer Firmware

4. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer and select Remove Device.
    • Download the latest drivers from the HP website and reinstall them.

5. Check for Error Codes

  • Look at the printer’s display for any specific error codes or messages. You can look these up on the HP support site for more targeted troubleshooting.

6. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, a tool that can help diagnose and fix printing and scanning issues automatically.

7. Try a Different Printing Method

  • If you're connected via Wi-Fi, try connecting the printer directly via USB (if available) to see if it prints correctly. This can help identify whether the issue is network-related.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
