Hello,

I have had an HP DeskJet 2722 All-in-One Printer for a few years now. It has honestly barely worked, but now it will not print at all. The HP app on the computer says the printer is connected, no buttons are flashing, and diagnostic came back clear. The second I try to print it does absolutely nothing. Any insight will be helpful. Thanks.

You’ve been incredibly patient with this printer — and now it’s just ghosting you when you ask it to do the one job it’s meant for? Let’s get your DeskJet 2722 back in line.

 

Based on what you’ve described, it sounds like the printer thinks everything’s fine, but something's blocking the actual print job. 

 

Here's a step-by-step that’s tailored for your model and this strange behavior:


Clear the Print Queue

Sometimes Windows or the HP Smart app gets stuck.

  • Press Win + R → type control printers → Enter.
  • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2722 → Select “See what’s printing”
  • Cancel everything listed. Then try printing again.

Switch USB or Wi-Fi Connection

Even if the app says it’s connected, the link might be stale.

  • USB Mode: Unplug → Replug into a different USB port.
  • Wi-Fi Direct: On the printer, press the Wireless button and Info button together → A page should print with Direct connection info.
    • Connect to that Wi-Fi from your PC and try printing.

Force the Driver to Reset

  • In Devices and Printers, uninstall the printer.
  • Then go to HP Software & Driver Downloads and search for “DeskJet 2722”
  • Install the Full Feature Software (not just the basic driver). This often fixes weird silent failures.

Check for Subscription Lock (Instant Ink)

  • Make sure you’re using standard HP retail cartridges, not ones marked for Instant Ink.
  • If in doubt: Remove both cartridges → Power cycle the printer → Reinsert carefully.

 Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
    You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.
