I send a document to print and nothing happens.  I Can put a file on the glass and press copy and it prints.  Why are my documents not going to the printer?

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Since your printer copies fine but won’t print from the computer, the issue is almost certainly software/driver or communication-related, not hardware.

Why this happens

  • The printer hardware works (since the copy works).
  • Print jobs are not reaching the printer because: 
    • The driver is missing or unavailable.
    • The printer is offline or paused in Windows.
    • The HP app or spooler service is stuck.


Step 1: Check Printer Status

  1. On your PC, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Click your HP printer → Open print queue.
  3. Make sure: 
    • Printer is Online.
    • No jobs are stuck in the queue. If yes, cancel all.


Step 2: Restart Print Spooler

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, hit Enter.
  • Find Print Spooler, right-click → Restart.


Step 3: Reinstall the HP Driver

  • Go to Official HP® Support.
  • Enter your printer model (e.g., HP ENVY Inspire 7255e).
  • Download Full Feature Software and Driver.
  • Install and restart the PC.


Step 4: Use HP App

Step 5: Test Printing

Try printing from HP Smart or Word after reinstall.
