I have tried everything for my Deskjet 2600 printer. Nothing will get it out of sleep mode. Some of the suggestions don't exist on my computer. HELP! I need this for my business!

Hi @Tidele,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

If your HP DeskJet 2600 printer won’t come out of sleep mode, here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check the Power Connection

  • Ensure the printer is properly plugged into a functioning power outlet.
  • Avoid using power strips or surge protectors as they may not provide sufficient power to the printer.

2. Wake the Printer

  • Press the Power button briefly. Do not hold it down for too long, as this may cause the printer to shut down instead.
  • If your printer has a touchscreen or buttons, try pressing any of them to wake the printer.

3. Check for Printer Responses

  • If the printer is connected to your network, try sending a print job or accessing the printer’s webpage (if supported) to see if it responds.
  • If connected via USB, disconnect and reconnect the cable.

4. Perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware

6. Check Printer Settings

  • Access the printer's control panel or settings menu to check the power management settings.
  • Disable or adjust the sleep timer settings if configurable.

7. Reset the Printer

  • Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
