Hi @Yolan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer shows as offline despite restarting it and your computer, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's connected via USB, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and your computer. If it's a network printer, check the Ethernet cable or wireless connection.

Printer Status:

  • On the printer itself, check the display panel for any error messages or indicators that might suggest a problem with connectivity or configuration.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both your printer and your computer completely. Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary connectivity issues.

Check Printer Settings:

  • On your computer, navigate to the Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (Mac) and find the Printers section. Ensure that the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is set as the default printer and that it’s not set to "Use Printer Offline."

Printer Software:

  • Make sure that the printer software/drivers on your computer are up to date. Outdated software can sometimes cause connectivity issues.

Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, check your network connection on both the printer and your computer. Ensure they are connected to the same network and that the network is functioning properly.

Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Both Windows and macOS have built-in printer troubleshooters that can help identify and fix common printer issues. Run the troubleshooter to see if it detects any problems.

Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes firewall or antivirus settings can block communication with the printer. Temporarily disable them to see if the printer comes back online.

Reset Printing System (Mac):

  • If you're using a Mac and none of the above steps work, you can reset the printing system. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Ctrl-click) in the printer list sidebar, then select "Reset printing system." Note that this will remove all printers from your list.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
