My HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 will not longer print on cardstock or photo paper.  It used to. Now it just paper jams.

Hi @aclins0816,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating that your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 is having issues with printing on cardstock and photo paper. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Paper Specifications: Ensure the cardstock and photo paper are within the printer’s specifications for weight and thickness. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 generally supports media up to 200 g/m² (cardstock) and 280 g/m² (HP Advanced Photo Papers).

Adjust Printer Settings: Before printing on thicker paper like cardstock or photo paper, adjust the printer settings to match the type of paper you're using. This helps the printer adjust to the right conditions for feeding and printing.

Clean the Rollers: Dust and paper residue can build up on the rollers, causing jams. Turn off the printer, unplug it, and use a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water to clean the rollers. Avoid using too much liquid.

Check the Paper Path: Remove any stuck paper pieces from the paper path. Open the printer access areas and carefully remove any jammed sheets or scraps.

Use the Rear Paper Feed: If your printer has a rear paper feed tray, try using it for thicker papers. Rear feeds typically handle thicker paper better than standard trays.

Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, HP release updates to improve hardware functionality or to fix known issues.

Check for Wear and Tear: If your printer is older, the rollers might be worn out and less effective at grabbing heavier papers. If cleaning doesn’t help, you might need to have the rollers replaced.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
