My Envy 7830 has stopped printing on glossy paper. It will go through the motions of trying to print but will either not pick it up at all or picks it up, try’s to print but just leaves ink marks on the back of the paper. It will print fine on standard paper

Hi @Steve5376,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Photo 7830 All-in-One Printer is experiencing issues specifically with glossy paper. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check Paper Compatibility HP ENVY Photo 7830 All-in-One PrinterProduct specifications

Ensure the glossy paper you are using is compatible with your printer. Refer to the printer's user manual or the HP website for recommended paper types and weights.

2. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Dust and debris on the paper feed rollers can cause paper handling issues. Clean the rollers following these steps:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Open the paper tray and locate the paper feed rollers.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the rollers.
  • Allow the rollers to dry completely before reconnecting the power and turning the printer back on.

3. Adjust Paper Settings

Ensure the printer settings are correctly configured for glossy paper:

  • Open the print dialog on your computer.
  • Select the correct printer and open the printer properties or preferences.
  • Choose the appropriate paper type (e.g., "Glossy Photo Paper") and quality settings.
  • Ensure the paper size matches the size of the glossy paper you are using.

4. Load the Paper Correctly

Improper loading can cause feeding issues:

  • Load a small stack of glossy paper (10-20 sheets) into the paper tray.
  • Adjust the paper width guides so they are snug against the edges of the paper without bending it.
  • Ensure the paper is not curled or damaged.

5. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers  Software and Drivers for HP ENVY Photo 7830 All-in-One Printer

Outdated firmware or drivers can cause printing issues:

  • Visit the HP support website and download the latest firmware and drivers for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to update the printer firmware and drivers.

6. Perform a Printer Reset

Sometimes a simple reset can resolve issues:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

7. Perform a Test Print

After performing the above steps, try printing a test page on glossy paper:

  • Open the printer software on your computer.
  • Find the option to print a test page or diagnostic page.
  • Load the glossy paper and initiate the test print.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY Photo 7830 All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
