Hi @Obxchc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the error E8

The "E8" error on your HP DeskJet 4200 series printer typically indicates an internal hardware issue, often related to the ink system or printhead. Since this error is not explicitly covered in the manual, here are some general troubleshooting steps you can try:

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on and see if the error persists.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer's ink cartridge access door.
  • Make sure the cartridges are installed correctly and are not damaged.
  • Remove and reseat the cartridges to ensure proper contact.
  • Close the access door and check if the error resolves.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Use the printer's control panel or software to initiate a printhead cleaning if this option is available.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper feed path.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the power source.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.

You may also refer to this document for more information.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be best to contact HP support for further assistance,

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
