My printer won't print and keeps giving me messages about printer failure. When I follow the procedures suggested ( shutting down, disconnecting) the message comes back up. When I followed the instructions from the virtual assistant, I couldn't get the cartridges to move by turning the printer off/on.

Hi @Jerie3
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the "printer failure" messages and get it printing again:
1. Check for Error Messages
- Look for specific error codes or messages on the printer's display. These can provide clues about the problem.
2. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset internal components.
3. Inspect Cartridges
- Open the printer and check the ink cartridges:
- Ensure they are installed correctly and securely.
- Look for any protective tape that might not have been removed.
- Check for any leaks or visible damage.
4. Clear Paper Jams
- Even if there are no visible jams, it's worth checking:
- Open all accessible areas and remove any stuck paper.
- Check the paper path and inside the printer.
5. Reset the Printer
- If your printer has a reset option:
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the Power button and then turn the printer back on while holding the button for about 15 seconds.
6. Manual Cartridge Movement
- If the cartridges are not moving, try this:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Open the printer cover and gently try to move the cartridges to see if they're stuck.
- Reconnect the power and turn the printer back on.
7. Run Printer Diagnostics
- If you have access to the HP Smart app or the printer's built-in diagnostics, run any available tests to identify the issue.
8. Check for Firmware Updates
- Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve issues. If you can connect the printer to a computer, check for updates through the HP website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
