My printer is stuck like this. I’ve tried disconnecting it it for a couple of minutes and reconnecting it, I’ve tried using the app to connect to it but it won’t even show up in the app or in the available devices on my computer (or other two computers). Nothing is jammed or stuck and the cartridges seem to be ok. What can I do?

Hi @LauMF,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer isn’t turning on and isn’t being recognized by any devices, even after trying basic reconnections. Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot this.

1. Check Power Source

Ensure the wall outlet is working by plugging in another device, like a lamp or phone charger.

Avoid using surge protectors or extension cords for testing—plug the printer directly into the wall.

2. Verify Power Cord & Adapter

Make sure both ends of the power cord are firmly connected to the printer and the wall.

If your printer uses a detachable adapter, inspect it for any damage, frayed wires, or unusual heat.

3. Power Button Test

Press and hold the power button for 10–15 seconds, then try pressing it once more to turn on the printer.

4. Check Power Indicators

Look for any lights near the power button, on the power adapter, or at the back of the printer.

Listen for any sounds like the fan or internal motors when pressing the power button.

5. Remove External Devices

Disconnect all USB drives, network cables, and accessories.

Sometimes a connected device can prevent the printer from powering on properly.

6. Perform a Hard Reset

Unplug the printer from the wall.

Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain residual power.

Plug it back in (only the power cord) and try turning it on again.

7. Inspect for Visible Damage

Check the printer for any signs of internal damage, liquid spills, or burnt smell.

I hope this helps.
