Hi @rjmck33,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 is displaying a "Printhead Missing or Not Detected" error, here are some steps you can try to resolve it:

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Open the printer's front door to access the printhead and ink cartridges.
  • Remove the printhead by releasing the latches or buttons that hold it in place.
  • Check for any visible obstructions or damage.
  • Carefully reinstall the printhead, ensuring it is properly seated.

Clean the Printhead Contacts:

  • Gently wipe the printhead contacts and the contacts inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Allow them to dry completely before reinstalling.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. Check for updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a partial reset by navigating to the printer's control panel: Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore.
  • If a partial reset doesn’t work, you may need to perform a factory reset. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to do this.

Replace the Printhead:

  • If the error persists, you might need to replace the printhead.

Refer to this document: HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
