Hi @Crolivarez,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is displaying an error stating that the printhead appears to be missing or not detected, it could indicate a hardware issue or a connection problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the error persists after the printer restarts.

2. Reinstall the Printhead

  • Open the printer cover to access the printhead.
  • Carefully remove the printhead from the printer.
  • Inspect the printhead and the contacts for any damage or debris.
  • Reinstall the printhead securely into the printer, making sure it is properly aligned and seated.

3. Clean Printhead Contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead.
  • Ensure the contacts are dry before reinstalling the printhead into the printer.

4. Check Printhead Connection

  • Verify that the printhead cable or ribbon is securely connected to the printer.
  • Ensure there are no loose connections or damaged cables.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.
  • Visit the manufacturer's website and follow the instructions to download and install any available updates.
  • Firmware updates may include fixes for printhead detection issues.

6. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the error persists after performing the hard reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
