Hi @Hagseed,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a printhead error along with an ink supply issue on your HP Smart Tank 7301e All-in-One Printer can be challenging. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and address this issue.

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed. Remove the cartridge and reinsert it to ensure it is correctly seated.

Inspect the Ink Tubes:

  • If you notice that there is no black ink in the ink tube, inspect for any visible blockages or kinks in the tube that might be preventing ink flow.

Run Printhead Cleaning:

  • Use the printer's control panel or software to perform a printhead cleaning. This can sometimes resolve dried ink or minor blockage issues.

Perform a Printhead Alignment:

  • Many HP printers have a printhead alignment option. Go through the printer settings and try aligning the printhead to see if it resolves the error.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support Website and search for any firmware updates available for your printer model. Update the firmware if updates are available, as this might resolve certain software-related errors.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Plug it back in and power it on to see if the reset clears the error.

Manual Cleaning:

  • If the issue persists, try gently cleaning the printhead. Remove the printhead if your printer design allows it, and gently clean it with a lint-free cloth moistened with distilled water. Avoid using alcohol as it can damage the printhead.

Check and Replace Cartridges:

  • Ensure the cartridges are not empty or damaged. If needed, replace them with new, genuine HP cartridges to see if this resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
