HP Officejet 5610 All in One
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One Printer has started making a coloured or black line across copies whether in printed or document format.  My printer has a document feeder with rollers on the left hand side of the top of the printer. But I cannot see how to get this open.   All of the advice I have read instructs you to open the automatic document feeder - but how do you do this??  In every other way the printer is working well and has done for years.  Would appreciate some advice.

@BillP5, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I would recommend you to follow steps from the document HP Printers - Resolving Copy Problems under the section Lines or color bands in copies.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Thanks for the advice.  I have tried all of the things suggested.  Eg. cleaning rollers and glass.  Resetting the printer and running the Print and Scan Doctor.  But none of these have resolved the issue, which I have realised is actually a scanner problem .   When I scan a document, a multi-coloured line appears across it in the preview and in the finished document.  A coloured line also appears along the document edge. Problem scan.jpg

@BillP5

This looks like a hardware issue.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your advice but I think it would be more economical to buy a new printer than to take this very old one in to be repaired and I am not convinced that it is a hardware problem because it works with my laptop that uses a different driver.
