Thanks for your kind and detailed reply BUT I'm afraid the printer I have (OfficeJet Pro 8022, product no. 1KR65B) does not allow to remove the print head as you describe. In fact it isn't easily removed at all as it sits under a plastic cover.

Upon careful inspection, it seems that the print head may be removed, but it would require a major disassemble of the printer.

I have the same issue and I NEED HELP with the printhead

Hi, I'm the original poster of this thread.

I eventually figured out that the print head needed replacing entirely. To make a long story short, I ended up buying a new printer.

The replacement part was indeed available on several marketplaces (at a cost of about €35), but the disassembly of the printer was not easy at all and there was no guarantee of success.

HP Support staff themselves advised I request a technician to carry out the repairs, and the total cost would have been higher than buying a new printer.

I also noticed HP was offering discount vouchers and cashbacks for their printers on their online store, that made the purchase of a new device significantly more attractive, with the additional advantage of 2 years of warranty included, so I went that way.
