Hi @1p2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reporting this—I’m really sorry you’re facing such a disruptive issue. When all lights blink and a printhead error appears, it usually signals a critical hardware fault that needs immediate attention.

Let’s walk through the steps to help you recover your printer.

What This Error Means

The blinking orange light and simultaneous flashing of all LEDs typically indicate a printhead failure or communication error. This can happen due to:

  • Improper printhead installation
  • Electrical contact issues
  • Dried or clogged ink pathways
  • Firmware or sensor faults

Step-by-Step Actions to Try

1. Power Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This clears temporary faults and resets internal sensors.

2. Check the Printhead Installation

  • Open the printer’s access door and gently remove the printhead.
  • Inspect the copper contacts—make sure they’re clean and dry.
  • Reinstall the printhead firmly until it clicks into place.
  • Close the access door and restart the printer.

3. Clean Printhead Contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Gently wipe the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer.
  • Let everything dry completely before reinstalling.

4. Update Firmware

Visit your printer’s support page:
HP Printer Firmware & Drivers
(Enter your exact model and OS, then download the latest firmware.)

Install the firmware update using USB or Wi-Fi, depending on your setup.

5. Run HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your printer and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
  • Run the Printhead Test and System Test.
  • If the printhead fails diagnostics, it may need replacement.

You’ve done well to catch this early—let’s get your printer back to working condition. Let me know your exact printer model if you’d like help locating the correct printhead or service center.
