Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
1. Reset the Printer (Basic Power Reset)
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
- Wait 5-10 minutes to allow internal capacitors to discharge.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Check if the error persists.
2. Reseat the Printhead
- Open the printer cover and wait for the carriage to move to the center.
- If removable, gently lift the printhead latch and remove the printhead.
- Check for any visible damage (bent pins, ink buildup).
- Reinsert the printhead firmly and evenly.
- Lock the printhead latch and close the printer.
- Restart the printer and check if the error is resolved.
3. Clean Printhead and Cartridge Contacts
Note: Use lint-free cloth & distilled water. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners.
- Turn off the printer and remove the power cord.
- Open the printer and remove the printhead (if applicable).
- Find the gold contacts (on both the printhead and the printer).
- Clean the contacts using a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
- Allow everything to dry completely before reinserting.
- Restart the printer and check for the error.

4. Check for Firmware Updates
- Visit HP’s official website and check for firmware updates.
- Install any updates for your printer model.
- Restart the printer after updating.
- Check if the error disappears.
5. Replace Ink Cartridges (If Possible)
- Remove all ink cartridges.
- Inspect for dried ink or damaged chips.
- Replace them with genuine HP cartridges.
- Ensure cartridges click firmly into place.
- Restart the printer.
6. Perform a Semi-Full Reset (Advanced Reset)
- Reset via Printer Menu
- Tap the printer's touchscreen to wake it up
- Navigate to Setup (⚙️ or 🛠️ icon)
- Select Printer Maintenance
- Tap Restore Defaults
- Select Restore Factory Defaults or Semi-Full Reset (if available)
- Confirm the reset
- The printer will restart automatically

7. Check for Printhead Compatibility
- If the printhead was recently replaced, verify that it’s compatible with your printer model.
- Some printers require paired cartridges and printheads to function correctly.
8. Try a Different Power Source
- Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet, avoiding surge protectors or power strips.
- A low or unstable power supply can cause communication issues with the printhead.
9. Inspect for Hardware Issues
- If none of the above steps work, the issue could be:
- Defective printhead
- Faulty printer motherboard (logic board)
- Loose ribbon cable connections inside the printer
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
