HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wide Format All-in-One Printer

Hello,

Trying to print from Illustrator/Photoshop but printer only print white pages.

I tried from my PC to 2 other printers and it works.

I tried from other computer to mentioned printer and it works.

Then the problem is from my PC using Illustrator to this printer only.

From basic softwares all work fine between these two gys.

If you have a solution for that, it will be great!

Thanks,

Hi @YvesG19

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is working fine with most applications, but when printing from Illustrator or Photoshop, it only prints blank white pages. This suggests that the issue might be related to how these programs are communicating with the printer, rather than a hardware or general software issue. Since basic applications (like word processors or browsers) are working fine, the problem seems to be more specific to the Adobe applications.

Here are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Settings in Illustrator/Photoshop

Sometimes, certain settings within Illustrator or Photoshop can cause the printing to fail, especially if the printer settings are misconfigured.

In Illustrator:

  1. Go to File > Print.
  2. In the Print Dialog, check the following:
    • Make sure the correct printer is selected.
    • Check the media size and ensure it matches your printer’s paper size.
    • Under Color Management, ensure the correct color profile is selected (this can vary depending on whether you’re printing in RGB or CMYK).
    • Make sure that "Rasterize" and other options are set appropriately for your artwork.

In Photoshop:

  1. Go to File > Print.
  2. Check that the correct printer is selected.
  3. Ensure that the Paper Size and Print Settings match the printer’s setup.
  4. Under Color Handling, try changing from Photoshop Manages Colors to Let Printer Manage Colors (or vice versa) and see if this resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your feedback.

Unfortunately, this still dosn't work becaude many printing option are not manageable.

I compared the printing option of 9730e from HP computer that can't print and from my Mac, then I could see the difference between them. Same difference from HP computer to another printer (ENVY 6000):

- The printer 9730e is not well recognize on my PC, then I can't manage the printing setting properly.

I guess the cause is the HP 9730e printer pilot (already uldated)!

Could you please explore this?

Thanks

Yves,

Hi @YvesG19,

Yes sure, It sounds like you're having an issue where your HP 9730e printer is not being properly recognized or managed by your HP PC, even though it seems to work fine on your Mac or with another printer (like the ENVY 6000). You suspect that the issue might be related to the printer driver, even though it's already been updated.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue where the HP 9730e printer isn't being recognized correctly on your HP PC:

1. Verify Printer Connection

  • Wired (USB): Make sure the printer is correctly connected to the computer via USB and that the cable is functioning properly. Try a different USB port, preferably one directly on the PC (avoid hubs or extensions).
  • Wireless: If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, ensure that both the printer and the PC are on the same network. Check the printer's network status (either from the printer's display or via the printer's web interface) to verify that it’s connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

2. Check Printer Settings on Your HP PC

Sometimes, the printer may not be set up correctly in Windows. To check or modify the settings:

  • Open the Settings menu by pressing Windows + I.
  • Go to Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Check if the HP 9730e is listed. If it’s listed but not set as default, click on it and select Set as Default.
  • If it’s not listed, click Add a printer or scanner, and let Windows search for the printer. If it appears, select it and follow the prompts to install it.

3. Remove and Reinstall the Printer

If your printer is still not recognized correctly or has issues with managing print settings, you can try removing and reinstalling it:

  • Go to Devices > Printers & Scanners in Settings.
  • Click on the HP 9730e, and select Remove device.
  • Once removed, restart your PC.
  • After the restart, try adding the printer again by clicking Add a printer or scanner.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the printer driver.

4. Run Windows Troubleshooter

Windows has a built-in printer troubleshooter that can help detect and fix common printer issues.

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Printer from the list and click Run the troubleshooter.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to see if Windows can detect any issues with your printer connection or driver.

5. Reinstall or Update Printer Drivers

Even though you've mentioned that the driver has already been updated, the driver could be corrupt, incomplete, or incompatible with your current version of Windows. Here's how you can reinstall the printer driver:

Uninstall the Printer Driver:

  • Open Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
  • Scroll down to Printers, and right-click on the HP 9730e printer (if listed).
  • Select Uninstall device.
  • Restart the computer to ensure the printer is fully removed from the system.

Download the Latest Printer Driver:

  • Go to the HP support website and search for your printer model (HP 9730e).
  • Download the latest driver and software package for your printer.
  • Install the driver and follow the setup instructions.

After installing the driver, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and check if the printer is now properly recognized.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
