Hi @jnoffke,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The flashing error code OXB8889894 on your HP ENVY 5540 All-In-One Printer typically indicates a firmware or hardware issue. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open all accessible covers and trays.
  • Remove any paper jams or foreign objects.
  • Ensure that the paper path is clear.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP Support website and downloading the latest firmware for your printer model.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes a hard reset can resolve firmware issues. To do this, disconnect the power cord while the printer is on, then wait about 30 seconds before reconnecting the power cord and turning the printer back on.

Check for Ink Cartridge Issues:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and check if the cartridges are properly installed.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
