Hi @guttergirl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that you are facing issues with your printer, it is often helpful to update or reinstall the printer driver. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Update or Reinstall Printer Driver

  • Go to HP Support → Drivers & Downloads for your printer model.
  • Download the latest PCL 6 driver or try the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD).
  • Uninstall the current driver, then reinstall the updated one.

Switch Driver Type

  • In Devices and Printers → Printer Properties → Advanced tab, change the driver from PCL 6 to PCL 5.
  • Many users report that switching to PCL 5 or PostScript eliminates the error

Adjust Print Settings

  • In the printer preferences, disable Advanced Printing Features.
  • Try printing the document as an image (in Adobe Acrobat: Print → Advanced → Print as Image)

Install the Updated Driver:

  • Once the driver has been downloaded, open the installation file.
  • Follow the on-screen installation instructions to install the new driver.
  • Connect your printer to the computer as prompted during the installation process.

Test the Printer:

  • After installation, print a test page to ensure that the driver is functioning correctly and that the printer is communicating with your computer effectively.

Take care and have an amazing day!
