Hi @Joe_Reacher,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 is encountering a connectivity or communication issue when printing from your iPad. Since you've already reset the printer and the iPad, here are a few additional steps you can try.
- Check Printer's Network Connection: Ensure that both your printer and iPad are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, network issues can cause communication problems between devices.
- Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause issues with printing from devices like iPads. You can check for firmware updates through the printer’s control panel or using the HP Smart app.
- Reboot Router: Try restarting your Wi-Fi router to ensure there are no network-related issues affecting communication between your iPad and the printer.
- Forget and Reconnect Printer on iPad: Go to the iPad’s Wi-Fi settings, forget the printer’s network connection, and then reconnect it.
- Reinstall Printer on iPad: Open the app you're printing from and try removing and then re-adding the printer. You can do this by going to your iPad’s Settings > Bluetooth (if using AirPrint), or through the app settings that are managing the printer.
- Disable Sleep Mode on Printer: Check if the printer is entering a sleep mode or turning off due to inactivity. Ensure it's set to stay on and awake when printing jobs are sent.
- Use HP Smart App: If you’re not already, try using the HP Smart app for iPad to send print jobs. The app might handle the connection more reliably than printing directly through AirPrint.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
