My printer is now printing half a page then stopping and print queue is backing up. Running the troubleshooter isn't really helping as the problem keeps happening. How do I fix this?

@Shazza5, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

To assist you better, which device are you using to print?

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Keep me posted.

Hi thanks for your reply. Its the 3831 printer I am using. I have run the print and scan doctor but the problem is still happening.

@Shazza5

Did you try making a copy on the printer?

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

How is the printer connected? Check the connectivity between the printer and the PC.

Are you using the HP Smart app to print?

Keep me posted.
