I bought printer from a friend, it worked, but say a while since last use.
Printer takes paper, printer materials on it, but it is so light you can’t read it. I have tried cleaning the printheads with a cloth but same thing. Do ink cartridges need to be changed? What else can I try?

Hi @T-42

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

To better assist you -

1) Does the copy print out the same way?

2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or devices?

3) What is the ink level on the cartridge ?

While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.

  2. On the control panel, touch the right arrow  to display the second navigation screen.

  3. Touch Setup, touch the down arrow , and then touch Reports.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

Keep me posted.

Yes it copies the same way. I have only tried printing from my computer, but I have copied a random sheet of paper, and it was still the same. I replaced all the inks thinking that may solve it but it doesn't. The more I copy and print from it, it isn't that it is printing light so much but it is rather spotty. For instance, when i copied a page, I got a few lines that were printed readable and solid color, but everything in between those lines its either faint or non existent.

Thanks!
