When attempting wireless printing, will print as asked, but then gives error that it can't print. When check status of printing, shown that the printer has asked itself to print another much longer item with same name. When this is deleted, which takes a few minutes, printer is then ready to print another item.

Hello, @deaconR – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
I see that we are having issues while using the Deskjet printer on your Windows 10 PC. Let’s first try to fix this issue using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Please go to http://hp.care/2bZ9w2q to download and run HP PSDR. Once you open the program, select your printer and click on “Fix Printing” to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.
If the issue still persists, then try reinstalling the printer as suggested below:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL29706/al-109196-5/DJ_AIO_06_F4500_140_408-5.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Good luck 🙂

I thank DVortex for the wise advice. In attempting to follow, my computer told me that I needed to install more software in order to install HP Print and Scan Doctor. I thought I was following directions closely as to how to do this, but somehow in the process I installed the printer again. I now have HP Inkjet F4580 (wireless) + the version in which I need to plug in the USB cable for scanning + and the version of the printer that was causing me difficulty! The wireless version now works well, so the solution to the problem as outlined has been taken care of! It would probably be better if I would remove all three and start over again, but I have plenty of room on my computer yet so I will just leave it alone for now. Thanks again, DVortex!

Hello, @deaconR
Thanks for the update & glad to know that the printer is working fine! Great job 🙂
If you ever want to completely remove the printer entries, you can follow the steps below:
· First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
· Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
· Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
· Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
· Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
· Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
· Restart your computer.
· Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL29706/al-109196-5/DJ_AIO_06_F4500_140_408-5.exe to install the software.
· Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
That will help you to remove the unnecessary printer entries!
