Bonjour,

Hi @Emmaclerm,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're describing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e indicating "damaged or missing cartridges" can be caused by various factors, such as dirty electrical contacts, firmware issues, or a hardware fault with the printer itself. Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Check the Cartridges:

  • Ensure all cartridges are genuine HP 912 cartridges and compatible with your printer.
  • Inspect the cartridges for visible damage or leaks.
  • Clean the copper-colored electrical contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting.

Inspect and Clean the Printer’s Cartridge Slot:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the cartridge access door and check for debris or ink residue on the electrical contacts inside the printer.
  • Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Be cautious to avoid damaging the components.

Reset the Printer:

  • Disconnect the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for 1–2 minutes to clear any residual charge.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on. Reinstall the cartridges if prompted.

Update the Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure the printer firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes misinterpret cartridge errors.
  • Download and install the latest firmware from the HP Support website for your model.

Test with Different Cartridges:

  • If you have access to another set of compatible HP 912 cartridges, try using them to check if the issue persists. This will help determine whether the problem lies with the cartridges or the printer.

Perform a Hard Reset (if not already tried):

  • With the printer turned on, unplug it from the power source without turning it off.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on. Test the printer.

Check for Printer Hardware Issues:

  • If the problem continues after trying the above steps, the cartridge sensor or another internal component might be malfunctioning.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

I have a problem with my HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e: it indicates a problem with damaged or missing cartridges, but they are installed correctly, they are HP912 cartridges, and when I remove them or put them back, half the time it tells me that the problem comes from the Ceylon cartridge, and the other time, from the other three cartridges. So I think that it is indeed a problem with the printer and not the cartridges. I restarted it, unplugged it, plugged it back in, but nothing works. Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance and have a good evening.
