Problem tricolor cartridge

I understand your HP DeskJet 3760 is showing a problem with the tricolor cartridge. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check cartridge installation

Open the cartridge access door and remove the tricolor cartridge.

Reinstall it firmly until it clicks into place.

Verify cartridge type

Make sure you are using genuine HP 304 or HP 304XL cartridges (depending on your region).

Non-HP or incompatible cartridges can trigger errors.

Inspect cartridge contacts

Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.

This helps restore proper communication between the cartridge and printer.

Run printhead cleaning

From the HP Smart app or printer software, go to Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead.

Run the cleaning cycle 2–3 times if needed.

Check ink levels

Low or empty tricolor ink can cause cartridge errors.

Replace the cartridge if the ink level is critically low.

Try a different cartridge

If possible, install another genuine HP tricolor cartridge.

A faulty cartridge can cause persistent error messages.

Update printer firmware

Use the HP Smart app or HP’s support site to check for firmware updates.

Updates can improve cartridge recognition and fix compatibility issues.
