@mastersebas, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 9010 series printer is showing an ink supply error even after replacing the red (magenta) cartridge, and after performing a factory reset, you're unable to access the main menu or see any options. Let's walk through a few steps to help resolve this issue:

Check the Ink Cartridge

  • Ensure the magenta cartridge is genuine HP and compatible with the OfficeJet 9010 series.
  • Remove the cartridge and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.

Power Reset the Printer

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  • Unplug it from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the menu appears.

Try Semi-Full Reset (Advanced)

If the factory reset didn’t help, a semi-full reset may clear deeper firmware issues. This reset is not available via the standard menu and requires a special key combination:

Note: This will erase all settings including network setup and fax logs.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold Back (←) and Cancel (X) buttons together.
  • While holding, turn the printer on.
  • Continue holding until the Reset Menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Semi-Full Reset, then confirm.

Firmware Update (if accessible)

If you regain access to the menu:

  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  • Or update via HP Smart app or HP Easy Start: Official HP® Support

Still Not Working?

If the issue persists and the menu remains inaccessible, the printer may be stuck in a firmware loop or cartridge lock state. In that case:

  • Try removing all cartridges, restarting the printer, and then inserting them one by one.
  • If using refilled or third-party cartridges, they may trigger ink system errors. Use genuine HP cartridges to test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
