@jashworth, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a standalone copy in black and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Check the estimated ink levels

Check estimated ink levels to see if any ink cartridges are critically low or empty and replace the same.

Clean the printhead

  1. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  2. Open the Printer Maintenance menu.

  3. If necessary, open the Tools menu, and then touch Clean Printhead.

  4. If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. If necessary, repeat these steps for the third cleaning cycle.

NOTE: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page, and then evaluate the results.

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report. Check for black.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Kumar0307,

Printing a stand-alone copy for the black ink did not work. I have tried all the other suggestions that you provided and the black ink is still not printing.

The black ink cartridge is full.

The color ink works.

Can you just give me the option to send back the full black ink cartridge that is not working and send me a new one?

I need to be able to print using black ink for my business and this has caused a delay in my operations.

Thanks.

Is the printer enrolled in Instant Ink?

Are you using HP Instant Ink cartridges in the printer?

If yes, please send us a private message with your Instant Ink account details or you may also respond to the private message I've sent out and I'll help you out, accordingly. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

If the printer is not enrolled in Instant Ink, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
