Re: Full factory reset HP LaserJet MFP M28-M31

HP Recommended

Hello Asmita,

I am helping a client of mine out with a M29w that is inaccessible via network and will not set up via the wifi setup wizard. I've attempted several resets such as holding the wifi button for 20 seconds, but none have succeeded.

Before the issue began I performed the latest firmware update, and also added a admin password to the printer and enabled https. After doing those three tasks the printer is only accessible via USB no matter what I try.

Can you please let me know what the steps are to perform a factory reset on the HP LaserJet MFP M29w?

 Thank you!

- David

Hi @wizdomonwheels,

I'd like to help!

Asmitha is unavailable to respond to your post, I will be assisting you.

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link:

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
