Thank you for reaching out!

I understand how frustrating it must feel when the buttons on your Smart Tank 580’s control panel don’t respond the way they should, especially when you just want it to listen and print. Let’s try a few quick steps to bring those buttons back to life:

  1. Power Cycle the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer using the power button.
    • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
  2. Check Button Functionality:

    • Ensure no buttons are stuck or physically damaged. Gently press each button to see if it functions and depresses properly.
  3. Clean the Control Panel:

    • Sometimes dirt or debris can be stuck around the buttons. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the control panel and ensure no moisture enters the device.
  4. Check the Display Panel:

    • If the display panel is not working, make sure the power supply is stable, and there are no signs of display damage.
  5. Firmware Update:

    • Ensure the printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for and install updates using the HP Smart app or the HP support website.
  6. Reset the Printer Settings:

    • Refer to the user manual for instructions on resetting the printer settings to factory defaults, if applicable.
  7. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Disconnect all cables, except the power cord.
    • Perform a printer reset if applicable: this might involve pressing and holding a combination of buttons or accessing a reset menu through the display panel.

Please keep me posted. We’ll make sure your printer responds to every touch again soon.
